Voluma is an injectable filler that is a part of the Juvederm family. Our Chicago area cosmetic surgery practice relies on this filler to help add volume to the cheeks and mid-face of patients who desire a nonsurgical approach to a facelift. During the aging process, there is a natural loss of volume that is visibly obvious in the cheeks. This creates a sunken appearance, lines around the mouth, and sagging jowls, all of which can be corrected with this filler product. Manufactured with hyaluronic acid (HA), Juvederm instantly adds a subtle lift to the cheeks, restoring the mid-face with a more youthful contour. Voluma may be used in a combination with different facial rejuvenation treatments offered by our Downers Grove MedSpa. Patients must be at least 21 years of age to receive this filler treatment.
What to Expect
Using a think syringe, the cosmetic surgeon injects Voluma into the apex, apple and hollow of the patient’s cheek. Results are immediate, and can last up to 2 years. Side effects are considered mild to moderate, and can last between 2 and 4 weeks. The most common side effects are tenderness, swelling, firmness, bumps, bruising, redness, itching or discoloration at the injection site.
